Biography
Timothée Chalazonitis was born in Paris in 1989. He studied Art History and Archeology, then graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris as a graphic designer and the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
He is interested in the traces left by man and his desire to keep stories and memories alive. His practice is often linked to the letter, to the act of writing more precisely, as a need to dialogue with a space, architecture and city dwellers. Wandering in public spaces is very present in his work. It's at this point that Timothée Chalazonitis analyzes and harvests "involuntary art" (Gilles Clément), operating like an urban archaeologist. He captures the poetry of a moment, of a tension, of an exchange that will be the trigger for a plastic creation.
After his two masters he learn to engraved stone in Père Lachaise, the older Parisian cemetery.
His works are imbued with a form of contemporary romanticism, sometimes cynical, the remnants of a society in the making that sometimes struggles to see its future.
